స్కంద పురాణంలో సూత మహర్షి చెప్పినట్లుగా కాళేశ్వర క్షేత్రంలో ఎనిమిది పవిత్ర తీర్థాలు ఉన్నాయి. వీటిలో స్నానం చేస్తే పాపాలు తొలగి, రోగాలు నశించి, ముక్తి లభిస్తుందని విశ్వాసం.
According to the Skanda Purana as narrated by Suta Maharshi, Kaleshwaram Kshetra holds eight sacred tirthas. A holy dip in them is believed to wash away sins, cure ailments and lead to liberation.
జ్ఞాన తీర్థంJnana Tirtha
ఈ తీర్థ జల బిందువుల పుణ్యంతో దొంగలు కూడా మరుజన్మలో రాజులయ్యారని కథ. ఆదివారం ఉదయం స్నానమాచరించి సూర్యుని ఆరాధిస్తే కోరికలు తీరుతాయని నమ్మకం.
A tale says even thieves were reborn as kings by the merit of a few drops of this water. Bathing here on a Sunday morning and worshipping Surya is believed to fulfil wishes.
పక్షి (వాయస) తీర్థంPakshi (Vayasa) Tirtha
గంగాదేవి కాకి రూపంలో ఇక్కడికి వచ్చి స్నానమాడి, తెల్లని హంసగా మారిందని పురాణ కథ. ఇక్కడ స్నానం పితృదేవతలకు శాంతిని చేకూరుస్తుందని విశ్వాసం.
The legend says Goddess Ganga came here as a crow, bathed, and returned as a white swan. A dip here is believed to bring peace to ancestors.
నృసింహ తీర్థంNrisimha Tirtha
గోదావరికి దక్షిణ దిశలో, దూర్వాస మహర్షి ప్రతిష్ఠించిన నరసింహ స్వామి సన్నిధిలో ఉంది. వైశాఖ శుద్ధ చతుర్దశి నాడు స్నానం, దానం విశేష ఫలమని చెబుతారు.
Located south of the Godavari beside a Narasimha idol installed by Sage Durvasa. Bathing and giving alms on Vaishakha Shuddha Chaturdashi is held especially meritorious.
చిత్సుఖ తీర్థంChitsukha Tirtha
ఇక్కడ ఓంకారేశ్వర (చిత్సుఖేశ్వర) లింగం కొలువై ఉంది. స్నానానంతరం ఈ లింగ దర్శనం చేస్తే కర్మలు తొలగుతాయని విశ్వాసం.
Home to the Omkareshwara (Chitsukheshwara) linga. Darshan after a bath here is believed to dissolve negative karma.
బ్రహ్మ తీర్థంBrahma Tirtha
బ్రహ్మదేవుడే ఈ తీర్థాన్ని సృష్టించి శివలింగాన్ని ప్రతిష్ఠించాడని కథనం. ఇక్కడ స్నానం, శివారాధన, వేద పఠనం బ్రహ్మలోక ప్రాప్తినిస్తాయని నమ్మకం.
Said to have been created by Brahma himself, who also installed a Shiva linga here. Bathing, worship and Vedic recitation are believed to lead to Brahmaloka.
హనుమత్ తీర్థంHanumat Tirtha
లంకకు బయలుదేరే ముందు శ్రీరాముడు ఇక్కడ 108 శివలింగాలను ప్రతిష్ఠించాడు. హనుమంతుడు ఒక లింగాన్ని ప్రతిష్ఠించడంతో మొత్తం 109 అయ్యాయని చెబుతారు.
Before leaving for Lanka, Lord Rama is said to have installed 108 Shiva lingas here; Hanuman installed one more, making 109.
వ్యాస తీర్థంVyasa Tirtha
సంగమేశ్వర ఆలయానికి ఆగ్నేయ దిశలో, వేదవ్యాస మహర్షి సృష్టించిన తీర్థం. ఆయన ఇక్కడ వ్యాసలింగేశ్వరుని ప్రతిష్ఠించాడని కథనం.
South-east of the Sangameshwara temple, created by Sage Veda Vyasa, who also installed Vyasa Lingeshwara here.
సంగమ తీర్థం (ప్రధానం)Sangam Tirtha (the principal one)
ప్రాణహిత, గోదావరి (గౌతమి), అంతర్వాహినిగా సరస్వతి కలిసే త్రివేణీ సంగమమే సంగమ తీర్థం. ఇక్కడ స్నానం, తర్పణం, స్వామి దర్శనం పునర్జన్మ నుండి విముక్తినిస్తాయని విశ్వాసం. కాళేశ్వరం వచ్చిన ప్రతి భక్తుడు తప్పక స్నానం చేయవలసిన తీర్థం ఇదే.
The Triveni Sangamam of the Pranahita, the Godavari (Gautami) and the hidden Saraswati. A dip here, tarpanam and darshan of the Lord are believed to free one from rebirth. Every pilgrim to Kaleshwaram is encouraged to bathe here.
